Vision & Values

Saturate is committed to seeing a gospel saturation movement happen in North America and beyond. We want to partner with God, like-minded churches, and individuals as He brings about the vision of seeing every man, woman, and child have a daily encounter with Jesus in word and deed.

Our hope is to see one missional community per 1,000 people in every key population center leading to gospel transformation affecting everything.

We believe our responsibility in this vision is providing gospel-centered training, resourcing, and coaching for the purpose of starting, supporting, and strengthening churches committed to gospel saturation.

Saturate discovers and curates some of the best practices and learnings from the Soma family and other like-minded churches and repackages them for the church at large. We also provide training events, coaching, and platforms for learning communities to support individuals and churches toward accomplishing the vision of gospel saturation.

Core Values

  • Jesus builds His church everywhere through normal everyday people in the everyday stuff of life.
  • The gospel is central, applicable, and effective for all of life.
  • Gospel saturation requires personal transformation that starts in the heart and works outward to the world.
  • Every believer is continually sent on Jesus’ mission to be disciples who make disciples.
  • Jesus’ mission is Holy Spirit-led and empowered.
  • The local church is Jesus’ body for accomplishing His mission.
  • Godly leadership submits to and collaborates with the local church.
  • The mission requires men and women in ministry.
  • All ages, races, ethnicities, and socio-economic groups are part of God’s plan for gospel saturation.

Gospel Saturation

Every man, woman, and child having a daily encounter with Jesus in word and deed

Habakkuk 2:14 speaks of a day when the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Waters covering the sea!? That’s saturation.

Later Jesus promised that “whoever believes in me as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:38)

Global saturation starts with personal gospel saturation—a life filled with Jesus.

As the Apostle Paul clarifies, since God chose to make known His good news to others through Christ in us, the hope of glory (Col. 1:27), the good news flows out of us to others.

God’s plan is for the whole earth to be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord by His Spirit in us, His Church, every day and in every way (Eph. 1:22–23).

This is gospel saturation.

We are committed to seeing a day come when every man, woman, and child in every corner of the world will have a daily encounter with Jesus in word and deed through His people, the Church.

Gospel saturation is God’s vision for the world. The means through which He plans to accomplish this vision is through normal, everyday people saturated with the presence and good news of Jesus in the everyday stuff of life.

This is His vision for your life in this world . . . everywhere and every day.

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

HABAKKUK 2:14

Our Story

Our story in His story.

Our story starts with the story—the In the beginning . . . story. It’s a story of a good and great God who graciously created a glorious world and made a few people to live there, people whom He loved greatly. After all, He made them, and they were like Him. God then gave those people a job: to care for and steward everything He had created, including one another.

God loved them, and because of His love for them, they were lovely. Then a lie entered the world—the lie that God didn’t love them, was holding out on them, and instead of good, meant them harm. With that lie, darkness entered the world.

That lie became a vapor that slithered through and entered into every sphere of life and living. God’s beautiful creation began to break down and lost its once-perfect luster.

But, God was already on the move. He already had a plan to restore the world to glory and remind the people that He was good (so very good) and that His love for them would never end. He sent His son, Jesus, to mend, heal, repair, gather, and lead God’s people back to Himself. He then sent His Spirit to empower His followers to do the same for others. Jesus reminded God’s people of the truth—the truth that God would never stop pursuing them, never stop loving them, and never stop providing for them.

We are those followers, called by God to show other people what God is like through our lives. We are disciples of Jesus making new disciples of Jesus in the everyday stuff of life, who together through everyday proclamations of the gospel are carrying out God’s mission of restoration by filling the world with His presence and thereby saturating the earth with the knowledge of His glory. (Hab 2:14, Eph 1:22–23)

A note from the founder: Jeff Vanderstelt

My story begins in Tacoma, Washington. God led my wife Jayne and me to start Soma, a church committed to equipping and sending every believer on the mission of making disciples in everyday life. Soma has grown from one church to a family of churches across North America and into Eastern Europe, Asia, and Australia, all committed to gospel saturation. God has granted much favor and opportunity to Soma, and it is my desire to steward that opportunity through serving the larger body of believers in North America (and beyond) through training, coaching, consulting, and resourcing.

While we firmly believe the Soma Family of Churches has a key role to play in the vision of gospel saturation, both myself and Soma are limited in what we can do. We know it will require partnerships with like-minded leaders committed to serving the whole body of Christ together. In response to this, God laid it on our hearts to start Saturate. The creation of Saturate enables us to protect and care for the Soma Family of Churches while also serving the the global Church. Establishing a new nonprofit allows for us to curate and share the best training resources, while providing the flexibility to assemble and fund a diverse team to support and implement the vision of gospel saturation.

Our Team

JEFF VANDERSTELT

Executive Director & Founder

As the visionary leader of Saturate, Jeff gets to spend his time doing what he loves – training disciples of Jesus to make more disciples of Jesus. With great joy and mirth, Jeff leads the Saturate team (picture hands moving furiously across a white board), travels nationally and globally equipping others to do the work of the ministry, and writing books (Gospel Fluency (February 2017), Saturate, Saturate Field Guide).

Jeff also leads the Soma Family of Churches and is the vision and teaching pastor at Doxa Church in Bellevue, WA. He and Jayne, his wife of twenty-four years, have three children; Haylee, Caleb, and Maggie. Dhati is the Lead Pastor at Blueprint Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born and raised in California and later moved to Texas where he completed his undergraduate studies from the University of North Texas. This burden grew until the Lord gave Dhati a clear vision to plant a church-planting church in Atlanta, Georgia. Dhati is most passionate about church-planting and making disciples and is passionate about living out biblical truths in every aspect of life. He is currently working toward a D.Min from SEBTS in Great Commission Mobilization with a focus on planting multi-ethnic churches in the urban context.
