Lesson 5: Act

OVERVIEW:

In this final lesson, Abe explains the last of three elements of a DNA group: the goal of “act” is to listen and obey as the Spirit calls us to fruit that bears with repentance. He explains the negative impact of legalism in calling people to action, and gives a goal that everyone leaves each DNA group meeting knowing what to do and who to tell.

REFLECT:

  • Why is obedience such a vital part of discipleship? (This may sound like an obvious question, but spend time thoughtfully answering it.)
  • Have you historically viewed Christian action more motivated by you or by God the Spirit? How can you increasingly develop a Spirit-centered approach to obedience?
  • How might this step in the DNA process help a community on mission be more effective at making disciples?
