The past year has been filled with loss, chaos, and sadness for many. How does the gospel speak to our sadness in this moment? In the video below, Jeff Vanderstelt shared how God has given us the gift of emotions to help us see our need for Him.
Sadness reveals our need for comfort. Jesus Himself experienced deep sadness that led Him to weep over Jerusalem and over the tomb of one of His friends. He understands our sadness.
Ultimately, Jesus died and rose to give us His Spirit to comfort us in all things. We are not alone. When we experience sadness, we are invited to feel it fully, acknowledge our need, and move towards God for comfort. The gospel is good news for our sadness. As we experience this, we are able to share the good news with others who are in need of comfort.
